Rupee Tumbles Against Dollar Amid Strengthening Greenback
The Indian rupee depreciated by 6 paise to 95.28 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Friday, August 7, 2026.
This decline comes as the dollar strengthened and U.S. Treasury yields rose, outweighing a favorable global backdrop for the rupee.
Forex traders pointed out that dollar demand from importers and profit-taking after the rupee's recent appreciation were key factors contributing to its fall.
Amit Pabari of CR Forex Advisors noted that 95.00-95.10 is a solid support for the rupee, and the currency climbing back towards the 96.00-96.20 zone seems like reality in the near term.
The dollar index was trading 0.02% higher at 99.95, while Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, rose 1.20% to $83.48 per barrel.
