Rupiah Strengthens Ahead of Warsh Speech
The Indonesian rupiah strengthened to IDR17,718 per US dollar at the start of trading on Friday.
This is a 0.15% increase from the previous closing price of IDR17,744 per US dollar.
According to Josua Pardede, Chief Economist at Permata Bank, the rupiah will likely move horizontally within the range of IDR17,675 to IDR17,775 per US dollar throughout Friday's trading.
The market is awaiting Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium for clues on the direction of US interest rate policy.
