Ryukyus Net Profit Surges as Japan Interest Rates Rise
Bank of The Ryukyus reported consolidated net profit of ¥2.9 billion for the April, June quarter of fiscal 2026, a 16% year-on-year increase.
Lending interest income rose following the Bank of Japan's policy rate hikes, while securities interest and dividend income also grew, boosting overall earnings.
The bank's net interest income (non-consolidated) increased by 17% to ¥9.5 billion, and core business profit jumped 47% to ¥3.2 billion.
Corporate lending growth was particularly pronounced, with some borrowers seeking additional financing to fund wage increases.
