Samsung Biologics Launches $1.9 Billion Bid for PolyPeptide
Samsung Biologics is set to launch an all-cash takeover bid for PolyPeptide in September, offering 44.31 Swiss francs per share. The offer values the company at about $1.9 billion and represents a premium of around 40 percent over PolyPeptide's April 10 closing price.
The acquisition is part of Samsung Biologics' push into peptide manufacturing, specifically targeting the GLP-1 supply chain. This segment is experiencing rapid growth due to its applications in obesity and diabetes treatments.
PolyPeptide's board recommendation will weigh heavily on institutional shareholders' decisions during the offer period, which runs until October 12.
