Saskatchewan Economy Adds 2600 Jobs, Unemployment Rate Hits 6%
Saskatchewan's economy is showing signs of strength after adding 2,600 jobs in recent months, bringing its unemployment rate to six per cent.
This rate ranks third-lowest among Canadian provinces, with only Manitoba and Quebec having lower rates at five and 5.6 per cent respectively.
The province's private sector has seen significant gains, adding 10,300 jobs since July of last year, a 2.7 per cent increase.
The construction sector was a major contributor, with 4,600 new jobs added, followed by accommodation and food service with 4,200 new positions.
Young people have also seen an increase in employment opportunities, with 1,500 jobs added for those aged 15 to 24 and 3,900 jobs added for those aged 25 to 54.
