Seoul Stocks Plummet on Rising Oil Prices and Inflation Worries

Seoul stocks plummeted on September 11 as soaring oil prices sparked inflation concerns. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) closed at 6,909.91, down 1.76 percent from the previous day's close.

The decline was led by tech stocks, with Samsung Electronics falling 3.53 percent to 259,500 won and SK hynix declining 2.21 percent to 1,81 million won. Hyundai Motor dropped 1.67 percent, while LG Energy Solution fell 1.37 percent to 360,000 won.

Despite the losses, some sectors showed resilience, with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries jumping 5.62 percent to 479,000 won and Hanwha Aerospace climbing 1.31 percent to 1.08 million won.

The Korean won fell against the U.S. dollar, trading at 1,345.9 won per dollar as of 3:30 p.m.
