Sikorski: NATO Would Defeat Russia Quickly if Moscow Attacks Alliance
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has made a bold claim that NATO could defeat Russia quickly if Moscow attacks the Alliance. During a discussion at the annual Yalta European Strategy Summit in Kiev, Sikorski stated that Europe has 'huge superiority' in air power, with over 2,500 aircraft compared to Russia's.
'If Russia attacks us and we take off our gloves, I think we will defeat Russia quite quickly,' Sikorski said. He also compared the potential ability of European countries to attack Russia's energy infrastructure to Ukraine's ongoing campaign against Russian refineries.
Sikorski noted that Europe has a significant advantage in defense spending, with the combined budgets of Baltic and Scandinavian countries exceeding those of Russia. However, he acknowledged that Europe does not yet have full defense sovereignty.
The Polish minister emphasized that strategic pressure on the Russian economy is key to ending the conflict, advising Ukraine to focus mainly on strikes on oil refineries.
