Sinead Taylor Appointed ASB Bank CEO Amid Industry Turbulence
ASB Bank has announced that Sinead Taylor will take over as CEO and Managing Director on December 12th, succeeding Vittoria Shortt who steps down after almost nine years in the role. Taylor brings over 25 years of banking experience to the position, having joined Commonwealth Bank (CBA) in 2008.
Taylor's appointment has received non-objection from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, clearing the final regulatory step before she takes up the role. She will be responsible for leading ASB through a period of significant change and challenge for the industry.
Vittoria Shortt will depart on December 11th after almost nine years at the helm, during which time she led ASB's more than 7,000 people through investment in technology and digital services. The bank's chair, Dame Therese Walsh, credited Shortt with steering the bank through a turbulent period.
