Spain's harmonized inflation rate rose to 4.5% in August, according to preliminary data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This marks a six-tenth increase compared to July's rate of 3.9% and places Spain above some European references for this month.

The Harmonized Consumer Price Index (IPCA) is used to compare price developments between countries in the European Union, as it is calculated using common criteria. In monthly terms, the Spanish indicator increased by 0.6% compared to July.

Spain was already above the eurozone's harmonized inflation rate of 2.9% in July, and its current rate exceeds that of other major European countries such as France, which registered an IPCA of 2.7% in August.
