Spanish Inflation Hits 4.3% as Fuel Prices Rise
Spain's Consumer Price Index (CPI) accelerated to 4.3% in August, its highest year-on-year rate since February 2023, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics.
The increase from July's 3.6% was driven primarily by rising fuel prices, which are up this August compared to last year when they had decreased.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages also contributed to the higher inflation rate, although their prices dropped less than in August 2025.
The Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HICP), used for cross-European comparisons, reached 4.5% in August, up from July's 3.9%.
