Spanish Police Crack Down on Italian Counterfeit Network Linked to Camorra

A major international operation has taken down an Italian counterfeit money network linked to the Camorra organised crime syndicate, resulting in six arrests and 16 searches across Germany, Italy, and Spain. The investigation was coordinated by authorities in Germany, Italy, and Spain with support from Europol.

The operation, which included raids in Gran Canaria, uncovered an infrastructure used to manufacture and distribute sophisticated counterfeit currency. The network allegedly supplied high-quality counterfeit euros to criminal groups for onward distribution in both Spain and Germany.

According to the Spanish Interior Ministry, investigators believe that several hundred thousand counterfeit banknotes were put into circulation. The counterfeit notes seized were of Italian origin and belonged to a type identified by investigators as the 'Naples Group'.
