The Spanish Treasury is set to issue up to 3 billion euros in short-term bills today, just ahead of the European Central Bank's (ECB) decision on interest rates, which is widely expected to be a rate hike.

The auction will offer two tranches: three-month and nine-month bills. In its previous auction, the Treasury sold 2.072 billion euros in similar instruments, with the yield on three-month bills reaching its highest level since February 2025 at 2.399%.

The ECB's decision is expected to have a significant impact on the financial markets, and investors are closely watching the move. The Treasury plans to raise between 2 billion and 3 billion euros from this auction, which is in line with its target for the year.
