Sri Lankan Rupee Gains Strength Against US Dollar
The Sri Lankan Rupee has gained strength against the US Dollar in commercial banks across Sri Lanka, as per data available on August 17. According to Seylan Bank and other major financial institutions, the buying rate of the US dollar remains unchanged at Rs. 328.85, while the selling rate is also steady at Rs. 338.10.
However, a closer look at individual bank rates reveals that some have seen a decrease in both buying and selling rates for the US Dollar. For instance, People's Bank has reported a drop in the buying rate from Rs. 329.54 to Rs. 328.55, while the selling rate has decreased from Rs. 337.71 to Rs. 336.70.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon is another institution that has seen a decrease in US Dollar rates, with the buying rate dropping from Rs. 327.07 to Rs. 326.82 and the selling rate decreasing from Rs. 337.00 to Rs. 336.75.
