StatsCan Reports May GDP Results Amid Q2 Rebound Expectations
Statistics Canada will publish its May gross domestic product (GDP) results and an early estimate for June GDP this morning.
The agency's preliminary data from last month indicated a 0.1% rise in real GDP for May, down from the 0.5% growth seen in April.
This report will provide the first look at Canada's economic performance in the second quarter, following two consecutive quarterly declines in real GDP.
The Bank of Canada and economists were surprised by the mild contraction in the first three months of the year, but now expect a rebound with an annualized gain of 2.5% in the second quarter.
