Stocks on Wall Street saw a modest rebound on Wednesday, driven by steady oil prices and bond yields. The S&P 500 index rose 0.6%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 421 points or 0.8% as of 10:52 a.m. Eastern time.

The gains followed two weak days for the broader market, which had been under pressure from rising oil prices and a bond-market sell-off. Banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America saw significant increases, with JPMorgan up 1.7% and Bank of America up 2.4%. Dell Technologies also rose 3.7% after releasing an encouraging financial update.

Oil prices remained relatively steady, despite the intensification of the six-month U.S. war with Iran. The conflict has led to a surge in oil prices and gasoline costs, but Brent crude only rose by 0.2% to $94.83 a barrel. Energy stocks were mixed, with Chevron edging up 0.4% after confirming its plans to expand operations in Venezuela.

The jobs market is a growing concern, with ADP reporting that private-sector employment slipped in August. The government's broader employment report for August will be released on Friday, and investors are eagerly awaiting the results. The Federal Reserve is trying to balance its goal of supporting employment with its aim of taming inflation, which remains above 3%.
