Stocks Tumble as Strong Jobs Report Fuels Rate Hike Fears
U.S. stocks declined on Friday after a stronger-than-expected jobs report raised the prospect of an interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve.
The S&P 500 fell 0.4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.5% and the Nasdaq composite gave back 0.3%.
Employers added 162,000 jobs in August, exceeding the forecast of 65,000.
The Labor Department also revised June and July payrolls upward by 55,000, with the unemployment rate holding steady at 4.1%.
