STOXX 600 Falls Amid Rising Oil Prices Following US-Iran Military Strikes
The European STOXX 600 index fell on Monday as US-Iran military strikes drove up oil prices and bond yields.
The pan-European index dropped 0.6 percent to 651.1 points, its fifth consecutive monthly gain. Trading volumes were subdued due to a bank holiday in London.
Germany's DAX declined by 1.2 percent, the largest drop among major regional indexes. The fall was attributed to rising energy prices following the Iran conflict.
German inflation accelerated in August, but at a lower rate than expected, and core inflation remained stable. This has led investors to price in another interest rate increase from the European Central Bank next week.
