Greater Sudbury Mayor Paul Lefebvre believes the recent US tariffs are a wake-up call for Canadians and an opportunity to capitalize on cross-border challenges. He thinks the city is poised to take advantage, with its rich mineral resources and existing infrastructure.

Lefebvre stated that 'we have what the world needs' and can supply it for at least another 100 years. The city has nine operating mines and five processing facilities, making it a strategic advantage for the province and country.

The mayor emphasized the need to invest in the mining sector to develop the economy further. He predicts that with proper investments, there could be 15 operating mines within two to five years, creating thousands of good-paying jobs.
