Supercars Debut Delivers Record-Breaking Economic Boost
The Repco Supercars Championship's debut in Christchurch and Taupō delivered a significant economic boost to both cities. The events, which took place in April, generated $21.4 million in visitor expenditure for New Zealand.
In Christchurch, visitors spent approximately $9.5 million, while those in Taupō shelled out $7.9 million. International visitors also contributed an additional $4.0 million to the economy elsewhere in the country.
The events attracted around 3000 international visitors who spent a total of $9.3 million during their stay and generated over 34,000 international visitor nights across New Zealand.
