Supercars Double Header Brings in Big Bucks for New Zealand Economy
New Zealand's first Supercars Double Header has been hailed as a major success after generating $21.4 million for the local economy.
The two events, held in Christchurch and Taupo across the North and South Islands, attracted around 3,000 international visitors who spent over $4 million elsewhere.
Analysis shows that fans spent $9.5 million in Christchurch and $7.9 million in Taupo during the events, which generated over 34,000 nights of accommodation across New Zealand.
SUPERCARS Executive Chairman Barclay Nettlefold said the results validated the vision behind creating the Championship's first New Zealand Double Header.
