Swiss Banks' Stablecoin Sandbox Grows with SIX and TWINT Onboard
Switzerland's SIX and TWINT have joined the Swiss franc stablecoin initiative, which aims to bring digital settlement to non-bank entities. The group consists of six banks, including UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum, Raiffeisen, Zürcher Kantonalbank, BCV, and Swiss Stablecoin AG. They are testing the CHFD stablecoin in a sandbox environment until 2026.
Both SIX and TWINT have already integrated with the initiative. SIX settles tokenized assets using central bank money on its SDX platform, while TWINT is a mobile payments app used by most Swiss consumers.
The group emphasizes that the sandbox exercise does not signal a decision to launch a stablecoin. The results will be published after the end of 2026.
