Swiss Banks Unleash Live Tests for Franc Stablecoin CHFD
A group of Swiss banks has started live testing CHFD, a stablecoin designed to hold a value equivalent to one Swiss franc. This marks an important step in the development of the token, which has been running in a controlled environment since late June.
The consortium, led by UBS, aims to learn what Switzerland would need for a broader 'digital money' setup and to keep its financial center competitive as global stablecoin use grows. The new partners, SIX and TWINT, will bring their expertise to the trial, testing the token's ability to move smoothly across different systems and be converted back into regular bank money without friction.
The live tests are significant because they represent an attempt to create a 'closed loop' where CHFD can be received, settled, and redeemed in more places. If successful, this could raise the odds that CHFD becomes a practical piece of Swiss payments and market plumbing.
