Swiss Central Bank Dumps Record $191 Billion into US Stocks
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has taken its largest bet on U.S. stocks yet, with its U.S. equity portfolio reaching a record $191.4 billion as of June 30.
This represents over a quarter of the bank's foreign-currency reserves and marks a 10% increase in the second quarter alone.
The largest positions held by the SNB include Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft, with shares worth $716.6 million also held in defense software firm Palantir Technologies Inc.
The SNB's strategy of investing in equities is aimed at boosting returns on its massive foreign-currency reserves, which have ballooned due to years of currency interventions to weaken the franc.
