Swiss Economy Gains Momentum as Survey Results Indicate Broad-Based Recovery
The Swiss economy is gaining momentum, according to the latest KOF Business Situation Indicator for July. This indicator, which combines data from various surveys, rose in July after falling in the two previous months.
Business activity is now more buoyant than at the start of 2026, and companies' forecasts for the next six months are also improving significantly. The survey results suggest that the Swiss economy is experiencing a broad-based recovery.
The improvement is particularly pronounced in wholesale trade, manufacturing, and financial and insurance services, but less evident in construction, project engineering, other services, and retail trade. The hospitality sector stands out as an exception, with the business situation worsening noticeably in both food-service and accommodation sectors.
However, even in the hospitality sector, business confidence is rising for the next six months, although restaurants do not expect a turnaround in the current quarter.
