Swiss Economy Sees Fastest Growth Since Q3 2021 with 1.5% Q2 Expansion

The Swiss economy has experienced its fastest growth in approximately five years, with a 1.5% increase in gross domestic product (GDP) during the second quarter of 2026.

This expansion marks the strongest quarterly growth since the third quarter of 2021 and surpasses the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs' projection of around 1% growth for 2026 and 1.5% for 2027.

The chemicals and pharmaceuticals sector played a significant role in this growth, contributing to an overall increase in industrial output by 3.9%, with a 4.5% rise in industrial production.

Exports of goods rose by 5.5%, while services exports increased by 1.6%. Imports grew by 2.2%, reflecting strong domestic demand.
