Swiss Franc Holds Ground as Domestic Data Show Modest Gains
The Swiss Franc held its ground against major currencies on Monday after the release of domestic Producer and Import Prices data. The data showed a modest monthly increase, with the producer and import price index rising by 0.3% month-on-month in January.
However, the annual rate remained negative at -0.8%, according to the Federal Statistical Office. This modest uptick did not have a significant impact on the currency's value, as the USD/CHF pair traded near 0.8650, virtually unchanged from Friday's close.
The SNB's willingness to intervene in foreign exchange markets to prevent excessive Franc appreciation is seen as a key factor behind its stability. Analysts noted that the data is unlikely to alter the SNB's policy trajectory, and the central bank has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to maintaining monetary stability.
