Swiss Franc Holds Steady Amid Strong Economic Data and Hawkish Fed Sentiment
The Swiss Franc has maintained its value despite stronger-than-expected economic data from Switzerland. The USD/CHF pair, which tracks the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Swiss Franc, traded around 0.8100 during Asian hours on Tuesday.
The data showed a 2.3% year-over-year increase in July Real Retail Sales, beating forecasts of 1.3%. This growth is building on June's upwardly revised 1.9% rate.
Analysts at BNP Paribas point out that rising political headwinds for US monetary policy are a concern. They note that President Trump has been critical of the Federal Reserve, questioning its resolve to tighten interest rates and restore price stability.
