Swiss Franc Strengthens Against US Dollar Amid Steady Employment Data

The Swiss Franc (CHF) strengthened against the US Dollar (USD) on Monday following the release of Swiss employment data, but failed to hold onto previous gains. The USD/CHF pair retreated below 0.8100 after the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs reported that the Unemployment Rate remained steady at 3.1% in August.

The Federal Reserve is expected to consider a quarter-point rate hike in September, with odds rising to 58% according to the CME's FedWatch Tool. However, the SNB is likely to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 0%, as it has done for most of 2026 and will continue through the first half of 2027.

The Swiss Franc's performance against the USD remains subdued due to monetary policy divergence between the US Federal Reserve and the Swiss National Bank. The SNB is expected to prioritize currency stability, while the Fed considers inflation figures in its decision-making process.
