Swiss Franc Surges on Higher-than-Expected Inflation
The Swiss franc gained strength against major currencies in Thursday's European session after Switzerland's consumer price index rose more than expected.
Data from the Swiss Federal Statistical Office revealed that inflation accelerated to a yearly rate of 0.8 percent in August, outpacing the 0.4 percent increase seen in July and exceeding analysts' forecast of 0.5 percent.
This marked the highest level of inflation since September 2022, indicating increased economic activity within the country.
