Swiss Franc Tumbles Near One-Year Low Amid Ongoing Conflict Uncertainty
The Swiss franc has continued to trade near its one-year low of $0.821, reached on July 28th. The currency's value is being influenced by ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Middle East conflict and easing inflation concerns.
Inflation in Switzerland eased to 0.4% in July, down from 0.5% in June, its lowest level in four months. This decrease contrasts with the Swiss National Bank's expectation of a modest near-term pickup in inflation following their decision to hold policy rates at 0%.
The SNB is expected to maintain low borrowing costs through year-end and only consider further cuts if severe damage to Swiss banks occurs. Meanwhile, investor sentiment has improved significantly in July, returning to positive territory for the first time since the conflict began.
