Swiss Inflation Doubles Amid Fuel Cost Surge
Switzerland's inflation rate doubled in August to 0.8% year-on-year, exceeding economists' forecasts of 0.5%, according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.
The increase was largely driven by a sharp rise in fuel costs, which jumped 25% from a year earlier due to global oil supply disruptions.
While inflation remains within the Swiss National Bank's comfort zone of 0% to 2%, this latest reading is significant as it occurs just weeks before the bank's rate decision on September 24th.
