Swiss Post Profit Rises Despite Declining Mail Volumes
Swiss Post AG reported higher profits in the first half of 2026 despite declining mail volumes. The company cited its core logistics business as the main driver of the improved results, with customers sending 5.6% more packages than in the same period last year.
The operating profit (EBIT) climbed from 118 million Swiss francs to 173 million Swiss francs compared to the same period last year, while net income jumped from 74 million Swiss francs to 139 million Swiss francs. Operating revenue rose slightly to 3.67 billion Swiss francs.
Swiss Post attributed the increase in profits to growth in its parcel business and improved results at PostFinance, a subsidiary that saw its EBIT rise from 135 million Swiss francs to 167 million Swiss francs. However, the company's digital services segment reported an operating loss of 40 million Swiss francs.
Despite the jump in profits, CFO Alex Glanzmann cautioned against euphoria, noting that for every franc of revenue, Swiss Post generates less than 5 rappen in EBIT. The company uses this revenue to fund universal service and investments in infrastructure and digital services.
