Swiss Stablecoin Pilot Enters Live Testing
A Swiss industry initiative has entered live testing for its CHFD stablecoin, which is designed to maintain a one-to-one peg with the Swiss franc. The pilot, launched in April by several banks and financial institutions, aims to test potential applications of the stablecoin under restricted user and transaction limits.
The project involves nine participating companies, including UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum, Raiffeisen, Zürcher Kantonalbank, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, SIX, TWINT, and Swiss Stablecoin AG. The testing phase will run through the end of 2026.
The partners will test established applications such as automated transactions between financial institutions and tokenised settlement of digital assets. Programmable payments are a particular focus of the testing programme, with participants examining whether they could reduce fraud risks on online marketplaces, support fairer access to event tickets, and improve the efficiency of public payments.
