Switzerland CPI Declines 0.1% in July, Aligns with Market Forecasts
Switzerland's Consumer Price Index (CPI) dipped by 0.1% in July compared to the previous month, aligning with market forecasts. This decline brings the annual inflation rate to 1.3% as of July 2024, indicating continued subdued price pressures in the Swiss economy.
The CPI has shown a slight cooling in price momentum, with a 0.1% month-on-month decrease following a 0.1% increase in June. On an annual basis, the CPI rose by 1.3% in July, remaining within the Swiss National Bank's (SNB) comfort zone of 0-2%.
The monthly decline was largely driven by lower prices for heating oil, air travel, and clothing, while rents and food prices saw modest increases. This low inflation environment is expected to continue supporting economic stability in Switzerland.
