T&G Apples Launches New Premium Apple Variety in Vietnam
T&G Apples has launched its newest premium apple variety, Joli, in Vietnam as part of its push into the Asian export market. The large red apple is sweet and juicy, perfect for sharing with families.
Joli was designed specifically to meet consumer demand for a high-quality, family-friendly apple. T&G Apples managing director Shane Kingston said the new variety has strong global potential, potentially becoming the next billion-dollar apple in their portfolio.
The premium apple category is growing rapidly, driven by consumers willing to pay more for trusted brands that deliver a superior eating experience. Between 2025 and 2030, the global premium apple market is expected to grow from US$13 billion to US$19 billion, representing an annual growth rate of almost 8 percent.
T&G Apples aims to significantly increase production of Joli in New Zealand by 2030. To achieve this, they are encouraging growers in regions such as Marlborough to consider diversifying into planting Joli apples. The company has already licensed 273 hectares of Joli apples in Aotearoa New Zealand and plans to grow this to 1500-ha globally by 2035.
