Taiwan Dollar Soars on Foreign Investor Inflows

The Taiwan dollar surged on Monday, closing at its highest level since mid-June after foreign investors poured in NT$88.3 billion (approximately $2.8 billion) into listed shares.

The Taiwan Weighted Index rose over 770 points, with semiconductor stocks driving the market's climb.

Market analysts noted that the US Dollar Index failed to extend its gains on Friday, instead edging down about 0.08% in early trading.

As a result, major Asian currencies rallied across the board, led by the Japanese yen's 0.7% surge.

The Taiwan dollar's near-term trajectory will be shaped by factors including US inflation data and foreign investors' positioning in Taiwan's stock market.
