Taka Stands Tall Amidst Economic Headwinds
The Bangladeshi taka has emerged as one of South Asia's most stable currencies, despite facing economic challenges. According to data from Bangladesh Bank, the currency has depreciated by just 0.59% against the US dollar over the past year.
This stability is attributed to rising foreign exchange reserves and strong remittance inflows. Remittances have reached a record high, but overseas employment is slowing down.
The economy still faces challenges, including a 33-year low in private sector credit growth and rising non-performing loans.
