Takaichi Approval Rating Slumps Amid Japan's Inflation Woes
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's approval rating has plummeted to its lowest level since she took office last year, according to a recent poll by the Yomiuri newspaper.
The survey found that the percentage of people disapproving of her administration rose to 34% from 21% in June, while those who disapproved of her efforts to combat rising living costs increased to 71%, up from 56%.
This decline comes as Japan struggles with high inflation, which has caused a surge in bond yields and a slump in the yen to four-decade lows.
Takaichi's administration has been criticized for its expansionary fiscal and monetary policy bias, which some argue has exacerbated the country's economic woes.
