Tarragona Couple Sentenced for Counterfeit Currency
The Provincial Court of Tarragona has sentenced a couple to two years in prison and a fine of 500 euros for possession of counterfeit currency. The investigation began on July 19, when police identified an apartment in Plaça de les Peixateries Velles as the supply center for retail drug sales in Parc de les Granotes.
During the search, officers seized 2.4 kilos of hashish and 80 grams of cocaine, along with 400 grams of marijuana and 4,000 euros in cash. They also found two crossbows, a tonfa-type weapon, and an electric baton.
The analysis of the counterfeit bills was carried out by the National Analysis Center of the Bank of Spain, which confirmed they were fake. The defendants possessed them with the intention of distributing them or introducing them into the market, misleading about their authenticity.
