TD Bank Pledges $150 Billion to Fuel Canadian Growth
TD Bank is committing $150 billion over five years to fund Canadian companies in critical sectors, aiming to drive growth across key industries such as energy, defence and aerospace, digital technology and artificial intelligence, and infrastructure.
The bank's initiative focuses on sectors that are essential to boosting Canada's economy, with a potential for an investment 'supercycle' if certain steps are taken. TD estimates that $1 trillion in new investments across more than 300 projects is already approved or being considered through 2035 across these five key sectors.
TD chief executive officer Raymond Chun said that partnerships with government and investors will be necessary to make progress on key projects, noting that 'it's not just about the capital of the banks' but also about co-ordination and bringing together subject-matter experts, funding, and opportunities.
