Thai PM Anutin Charnvirakul to Visit New Zealand for Strategic Partnership Talks
Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit New Zealand this week as part of a significant diplomatic trip. The visit marks 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and aims to strengthen trade and business connections.
Luxon says the visit is an opportunity to formally launch the New Zealand-Thailand Strategic Partnership, with the goal of tripling two-way trade by 2045. Thailand is ASEAN's third-largest economy and one of New Zealand's top 10 trading partners, with a current two-way trade value of almost NZ$4.8 billion.
The Prime Minister will attend various engagements in Auckland, including bilateral talks with Luxon and meetings with senior business leaders. The visit also highlights the importance of Thailand as a partner for New Zealand on regional stability and combating transnational serious and organised crime.
