The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) has launched a pilot project to test carbon capture technology in the Thai cement industry, as part of its collaboration with Canada. The initiative aims to support Thailand's transition to a low-carbon economy and enhance the long-term competitiveness of its industrial sector.

The project, funded by the Government of Canada through Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), involves deploying a Mobile Carbon Capture Unit (MCCU) in Thailand for the first time. The MCCU was developed by the Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute at the University of Regina, Canada.

The pilot project will take place in the Saraburi province, where cement plants operated by TCMA member companies will test the performance and applicability of the MCCU. This initiative is part of Thailand's 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap.
