The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) is partnering with Canada to develop and deploy carbon capture technology in Thailand's cement industry. The initiative, funded by the Government of Canada through Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), aims to support Thailand's transition to a low-carbon economy and enhance the competitiveness of its industrial sector.

The partnership designates the 'Saraburi Sandbox' as a testbed for carbon capture technology, bringing together industry, government, academia, and global partners. The Mobile Carbon Capture Unit (MCCU), developed by the Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute at the University of Regina, Canada, has been deployed in Thailand to evaluate its performance.

TCMA's Honorary Chairman Dr. Chana Poomee emphasized that the deployment of the MCCU is an important step towards enhancing technological and knowledge readiness for carbon capture technologies, which are essential for high-emission industries like cement.
