TikTok Brings Billions to NZ Economy, Supports Thousands of Jobs
TikTok has become an increasingly useful platform for businesses in New Zealand. According to a new report from Infometrics, TikTok contributes $1.2 billion to the country's GDP by 2025 and supports nearly 10,000 jobs.
Principal Economist Brad Olsen attributes this substantial return to the economy to the discovery of new products and services on the platform. 'They've seen a video, interacted with it, learned about a new product or service, then they go out and spend,' he said.
The report also found that nearly half of New Zealand businesses use TikTok in some way, shape, or form, which could translate to over 300,000 Kiwi businesses using the platform. This has led to significant sales and activity for these businesses.
