Tokyo and Washington Unite to Save Japan's Slumping Yen
Japan and the United States have taken joint action to support the Japanese yen, according to two government officials who spoke to Reuters. The move aims to arrest the yen's slide to 40-year lows.
The announcement is expected from Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama on Monday. Katayama will likely stress Tokyo and Washington's determination to combat excessive yen declines, said the sources.
The yen held steady on Tuesday ahead of a parliament vote in Japan later that day.
