Tokyo Core Inflation Accelerates to 1.9% Amid Global Price Pressures
Tokyo's core consumer price index (CPI), which excludes volatile fresh food costs, rose 1.9% in July compared to a year ago.
This marks an acceleration from June's 1.6% rise and keeps the Bank of Japan (BOJ) on track to consider further interest rate hikes.
The BOJ closely watches an index that strips away the effect of fresh food and fuel, which rose 2.0% in July after a 1.9% gain in June.
