Tokyo Pays More for Imported Wood Amid Strong Yen
The Bank of Japan's Corporate Goods Price Index revealed that Tokyo paid more for imported wood in August, with prices rising by 10.3% in yen compared to the same period last year.
This increase was not due to higher prices from abroad but rather a stronger yen, which added value to the imports.
The price of domestic wood also rose, albeit at a slower rate of 8.4%, while imported wood costs have decreased since July.
