Tokyo Stocks Rebound Ahead of BoJ Interest Rate Decision
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei 225 index closed at 65,270.95 on Thursday, September 10th, marking a 0.20% increase from the previous day.
However, the morning session was volatile, with the index opening at 64,768.53 and dipping to an intraday low of 64,186.68 due to a stronger yen, which weighed on Japan's export-heavy industrial base.
The afternoon session saw a rebound, with the Nikkei climbing steadily from the reopen and clearing Wednesday's close of 65,142.78 in the final hour of trade.
Despite the global oil prices surging above $100 a barrel following renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran near the Strait of Hormuz, the Nikkei's afternoon recovery was notable, indicating that Japanese equities can absorb yen strength without a sustained sell-off.
