Tour de France Riders Face Fines for Rule-Breaking in Final Stages
The Tour de France has reached its final stage, and while Richard Carapaz took home the win on Stage 21, several riders incurred fines for rule-breaking. Sepp Kuss was fined 500 Swiss francs for discarding trash in the wrong place, as well as a deduction of 25 UCI points for his first offense.
Kuss's second offense earned him an additional 1,000 francs and a 60-second time penalty in the general classification. Toms Skujins and Brent Van Moer were also fined 200 francs each for receiving sticky water bottles during the stage. Their team managers, Steven de Jongh and Alex Sans Vega, received fines of 500 francs each.
On Stage 20, Sam Bewley was fined 500 Swiss francs for supplying riders while passing the peloton. Adam Yates received a 200-franc fine for accepting food from his team car during the ride to Alpe d'Huez in Stage 19.
