Trade Tensions Dominate Outlook for Canadian Economy
The Bank of Canada's latest survey of market participants suggests that the future of trade relations is at the heart of the outlook for the Canadian economy.
The survey, conducted from June 11 to 18 with 26 financial market players, found that the median GDP growth forecast for 2026 was 1.3%, rising to 1.9% for 2027.
Tightening trade tensions were cited as both the top upside and downside risks to the forecast, with 92% of respondents citing easing trade tensions as an upside risk and 96% flagging increased trade tensions as a downside risk.
